I use all of the Viscous on my poles now. I got some at a conference in late 2009 nine hand have been hooked on the stuff ever since(no pun intended). I really like he clear blue for night fishing and actually use it in the rain too. It seems like I am getting hung up far less than I used to with this stuff, and I never have to deal with tangles. 10th place is great for your first event like this. A lot of people think that fishing is 90% luck, but in reality it is 90% skill and only a little bit of luck. Fourteen pounds is a heck of a day any day. As long as you get some decent sized 3-4 pound fish you are in good shape. If you get something around 5 that will pretty much seal the deal and send you home with a check! Great catch!

Old Hickory in October is very very tough. I went there last September for a local tournament and got 18th with just over 12 pounds. I have found that crankbaits are really not too effective there, especially in the late season. I really like to stick to a spoon or just a spinner bait when I go to Hickory. Those Furbits really do the trick. I really like that they don't dive. On a good clear day, with enough sunshine that the fish can see the top of the water, they will jump right to the surface and snatch those things real quick! I don't use alot of swimbaits, but I am anxious to see what kind of results you get from those.

Looks like you fellas had a pretty good day on the lake. It helps when the youngsters are able to reel a few in. Sounds like the bluegill were really biting that weekend. Nothing wrong with reeling in a few panfish, but there is nothing more exciting than catching a nice sized bass!
